Like the protagonist of her current novel out on query, award-winning author B.C. Krygowski works at a top-tier Level 1 Trauma Hospital. Being on the front lines enables her to blend two of her passions—medicine and writing—into crafting stories set in the dramatic medical world.
B.C.’s had many highlights in her writing journey. She’s studied under Tess Gerritsen, Laura Lippman, and Dennis Lehane. B.C. also won two Fair Fight auctions: to speak one-on-one with Jodi Picoult and to have an editorial pass from Stacy Abrams on the first one-hundred pages of a manuscript. Another highlight was being asked by Dennis Lehane’s early mentor, Sterling Watson, to join his critique group when B.C. still lived near Sterling.
After moving out of the area, B.C. went on to found a dynamic critique group of advanced level authors. She also runs a mastermind for women novelists, Shakespeare’s Sisters. B.C. hosts writing retreats for both groups at a friend’s mountain lodge outside Boulder, Colorado. Although the Rocky mountains always beckon her, she can’t bear to leave the East Coast’s greenery … yet. It’s probably because she was born, raised, and educated in New York.
B.C. is the author of Spending Habits for Professionals Who Want to FIRE, a niche book for physicians. It was ranked a 2020 best financial read by the White Coat Investor. She’s a member of Women’s Fiction Writing Association. B.C. won a first place Royal Palm Literary Award for one of her seven drawer drafts. Since there’s no more room in her drawers, she’s querying her eighth fiction manuscript.
Aside from medicine and writing, B.C.’s third passion is sweating profusely with her local track and swim teams. And yes, she’s usually each team’s caboose.
